Typhoon Ompong hits Vigan

Typhoon Mangkhut, locally known as Typhoon Ompong is the 15th typhoon that entered the Philippine area of responsibility. The typhoon made a landfall in Cagayan on September 15 which caused immense damage to the northern part of Luzon.

Prior to the landfall of the typhoon, families living in the coastal area were forced to evacuate to avoid any casualties during the typhoon. Rescue teams, equipment, and vehicles were also on standby, ready to aid any emergency that might happen.

One of the damages brought by the onslaught of Typhoon Ompong. A portion of the roofing of the Old Colegio de Las Niñas (Mart One) was destroyed due to heavy downpour & strong winds during the typhoon.

Vigan City is one of the cities that is under the state of calamity due to the massive damage the typhoon has done. With proper advisements given to the Bigueños, zero casualties was reported.
