It’s Christmas Season in Vigan City

The Heritage City of Vigan officially marks the start of the Christmas season in the City Government conducted the simultaneous lighting of this year’s colorful thirty-seven foot Christmas Tree in front of Vigan City Hall and the Christmas Village at Vigan Conservation Complex last November 27, 2020.

                Due to the pandemic, the City Government restricted the public to attend this year’s opening ceremony but instead have them witness it live online through the City’s official Facebook Page.

                Vice Mayor Lourdes Baquiran, SPM Joy Benette Orio, SPM Ramil Arce, SPM Francisco Arturo Ranches III, ABC Vice President Edmund Supnet, PPSK Vice President Mary Ann Ataup, City Administrator and Legal Officer Atty. Joanne Janice Quodala-Formoso led the lighting while the different Head of offices and Division Chiefs of the City Government witnessed the said event.

                Meanwhile, Vigan City Productivity Center Chief Jonalyn Ponce said that this year’s budget for the Christmas Tree is way lower compared to the previous years.

                Ponce added that there will be city employees together with the Philippine National Police to man both the attractions to ensure the proper implementation of the Basic Health Protocols for those who want to visit.

                The giant, glittering Christmas Tree illuminates hope and positivity to every Bigueño and Ilocano especially this time of pandemic.
