CGV, UNP Sign Agreement to Intensify DRRM Response in the City

As the City Government of Vigan intensifies its Disaster Risk Reduction Management in ensuring that every Bigueño and its stakeholders are safe at all times, the City Government of Vigan through Mayor Juan Carlo Medina together with the University of Northern Philippines led by University President Edwin Cadorna signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the Implementation of DRRM projects, programs, and activities in the University last September 8, 2020 at the Vigan City Hall Lobby.

                Also, Vice Mayor Lourdes Baquiran, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members, CPSDRRMO Milagros Alquiza, and UNP Extension Officer Marciana De Vera witnessed the said event.

                The said agreement enables the City Government to provide opportunities for Disaster Risk Reduction Implementation assistance, training programs, seminars and benchmarking opportunities to qualified university personnel; city facilities, equipment and other resources of the CGV to be utilized during trainings, joint simulation exercises and actual occurrence of human or natural induced hazards within the university; and assist and support in the monitoring and evaluation of the University Contingency, Disaster Preparedness And Response Plan through the conduct of joint exercises and trainings.

                “In this time of pandemic and any form of hazard that may come, the University really need this kind of venture for us to capacitate our personnel in giving quality service towards our dear students and to the university as a whole.” UNP President Cadorna said.

                Meanwhile, CPSDRRMO Milagros Alquiza gratified the University of Northern Philippines for recognizing the City as their partner towards disaster preparedness.

                She also added that the CPSDRRMO will share all its resources and knowledge to build and strengthen the University Emergency Response Team (UniVERT).
