Vigan Marks the 24th World Heritage Cities Solidarity Cultural Festival with Faith, Commitment, and Community Spirit

In celebrating the Vigan City’s 24th year of the as member of the Organization of World Heritage Cities, the City Government of Vigan officially kick-off the 2025 World Heritage Cities Solidarity Cultural Festival on September 8, 2025 through faith, unity, and commitment to heritage conservation.

The day began with a solemn Opening Mass officiated by Msgr. Cosmenio Rosimo, attended by City Mayor Randy Singson, Vice Mayor Atty. Glendale Benzon, members of the 9th City Council, department heads, division chiefs, city employees, representatives from National Government Agencies (NGAs) and Non-government Organizations (NGOs), Barangay captains, and SK Chairpersons at the Vigan City Hall Lobby.

Following the mass, city officials and community representatives gathered at the UNESCO marker for the Renewal of the Pledge of Commitment to Heritage Conservation in which City Mayor Randy Singson welcomed and opened the celebration and was joined by Ilocos Sur Vice Governor Ryan Singson and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Third Ranches, who delivered an inspirational message on behalf of Governor Jeremias “Jerry” Singson. The pledge was led by SPM Kisses Marquisse Agdamag-Lim, Chairperson of the Committee on Tourism and Heritage Conservation, and was collectively affirmed by city officials, city employees, barangay and SK leaders, NGOs, NGAs, and members of the academe.

The celebration concluded with a Salo-Salo, where participants shared a variety of local, traditional food and delicacies at the Vigan City Hall Lobby. This communal feast not only showcased Vigan’s rich culinary heritage but also embodied the spirit of solidarity, unity, and camaraderie that continues to bind Bigueños together in the shared mission of preserving the city’s cultural identity.
