Vigan City Meet 2025 Opens with Unity, Culture, and Youth Excellence

The Department of Education, Schools Division of Vigan City, officially opened the Vigan City Meet on November 19, 2025, at Plaza Burgos, Vigan City.

Vigan City Schools Division Superintendent Vilma Eda, together with school principals and teachers, led the activity. They were joined by City Mayor Randy Singson, SPM Jay Andia (Chairperson of the Committee on Education), SPM Karen Baquiran, and PPSK Vice President Carl Louie Alquetra.

In his message, Mayor Randy Singson expressed his continued support to the Department of Education—Schools Division of Vigan City. He emphasized the importance of strengthening grassroots sports development and nurturing the next generation of Bigueño athletes.

A total of 1,174 Bigueño student-athletes from public and private elementary and secondary schools in the city participated in the opening parade, joined by their coaches, trainers, technical officials, and delegation representatives.

The program also included the presentation of participating schools, the traditional athletes’ oath, and lively performances that highlighted the vibrant culture and unity of Vigan. School officials likewise expressed their commitment to further strengthening sports programs in support of DepEd’s goal of developing well-rounded learners.

The Vigan City Meet continues to be the city’s biggest and most anticipated sports event, bringing together young athletes in a joyful display of talent, teamwork, and friendly competition. It also serves as their training ground as they prepare for upcoming provincial, regional, and national tournaments.
