In the aftermath of Typhoon “Emong,” Vigan City extended vital support to families affected by the storm, offering not just aid, but hope and solidarity. From July 24 to 27, the city government, led by Mayor Randy Singson and the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, delivered relief assistance to 149 families across 12 barangays.

Residents from Camangaan, Mindoro, Rugsuanan, and other affected communities received food packs, hot meals, and essential hygiene kits. The relief effort was strengthened by the presence of Vice Mayor Atty. Glendale Benzon, the 9th City Council, and officials from the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur, including Board Members Janina Medina-Fariñas, Third Ranches, King Rafanan, and Art Oandasan.

Crucially, the Department of Health, through the Provincial Government, provided hygiene kits to ensure the safety and well-being of evacuees.

Helping hands on the ground made all the difference. PDRRM personnel and the Philippine Navy Reservists of Ilocos Sur played an active role in preparing and distributing hot meals and hygiene kits, working alongside the team at the Vigan City Central Kitchen.

This united response is a testament to the city’s commitment to care, compassion, and cooperation. In Vigan, the spirit of bayanihan lives on proving that no one faces a storm alone.
