The Department of Health (DOH), through the Ilocos Center for Health Development, held the Gawad Kalusugan: Celebrating Excellence in Advancing Universal Health Care on December 9, 2024, at Hotel Van Gogh, Candon City, Ilocos Sur.

During the event, the Vigan City Health Office, led by City Health Officer Dr. Loida Ranches under the leadership of City Mayor Jose “Bonito” Singson Jr., received awards recognizing its outstanding contributions to public health.

The City Health Office was honored as the “Bannuar Iti Salun-at” Best Immunization Program Implementer for achieving over 90% Fully Immunized Child coverage for Calendar Year 2023.

Additionally, Vigan City placed 2nd in the Sandugo Award for Local Government Units with populations exceeding 75,000 and recognition as a Mother-Baby Friendly Health Facility.

The awards were personally received by Mr. Jeno Figuracion, Nurse I, and Ms. Elizabeth Quinto, Nurse II, on behalf of the City Health Office.

Moreover, Dr. Loida Ranches presented the awards to City Mayor Jose “Bonito” Singson Jr. at Casa Vicente, highlighting the collective efforts of the City Health Office and its partnered agencies, offices, and communities.

These recognitions underscore the City Government of Vigan’s dedication to advancing universal health care and improving the health and well-being of its residents.
