Today, July 15, 2025, the University of Northern Philippines – College of Nursing hosted the 5th NEPRAGUILD Biennial International Conference at Tadena Hall, UNP Campus, Vigan City.

City Mayor Randy Singson welcomed the delegates and highlighted the role of nurses in public health. He shared how nurses became frontline heroes during the pandemic—working tirelessly, caring for the sick, and risking their own lives. He also recognized their continued role as educators, leaders, and advocates who help shape healthier communities. Mayor Singson emphasized the importance of conferences like NEPRAGUILD in bringing together nurse educators and practitioners to learn, share, and grow the profession.

The event was also graced by UNP President Dr. Erwin Cadorna, NEPRAGUILD President Dr. Jude Tayaben, Dr. Edward Cruz of the University of Windsor, Canada, and Dr. Jhordin James Montenegro of the University of North Carolina Charlotte, USA, along with the faculty of the UNP College of Nursing.

The conference gathered nurse educators, practitioners, and healthcare advocates from across the region and abroad.

This year’s theme, “Our Nurses, Our Future: The Economic Power of Care through C.O.N.V.E.R.G.E.N.C.E.,” emphasized how nursing plays a key role in innovation, economic development, and community health.
