On August 28, 2025, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) conducted a presentation of the preliminary results of the 2024 Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) to the City Government of Vigan at the Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Hall.
The activity was attended by City Mayor Randy Singson, together with SPM Kisses Marquisse Agdamag-Lim, SPM Joy Benette Orio, SPM Larry Raboy, SPM Karen Baquiran, SPM Ramil Arce, SPM Edmund Ayco, ABC Vice President Enrico Shawn Patrick Singson as well as department heads and division chiefs of the city.
PSA โ Ilocos Sur Chief Statistical Specialist Jeanette led the presentation and discussed the official count and key socio-economic indicators of the city, which are aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The presentation included data on the percentage of households with electricity, the percentage of households using clean fuel and technology for cooking, the distribution of households by main source of water supply, the service levels of toilet and handwashing facilities, the tenure status and characteristics of housing units, and the distribution of senior citizens by barangay in relation to ID ownership and living arrangements. It also covered the number of households with members who have disabilities, the status of education including reasons for not attending school and the percentage of youth not in education, the key employment measures of the working population by sex, the distribution of workers by class of work, the percentage of working children, the percentage of households with financial accounts, the proportion of fishermen and fisherfolks, the number of people working in the manufacturing industry, the availability of garbage collection and network signal, as well as the level of disaster preparedness in barangays.
After the presentation, an open forum was conducted where Mayor Randy Singson, City councilors, and department heads shared their insights, raised their concerns, and identified areas that need to be revisited or revalidated. Chief Statistical Specialist Marzan noted all to the areas need to revisit and revalidate and she added that the results presented were only preliminary and subject to validation. She further explained that the city may also access detailed tables based on the specific indicators needed.
Mayor Randy Singson commended the PSA for providing important baseline data that will be useful for policy-making and program development, particularly in promoting sustainable and inclusive growth for the Bigueรฑos.
The 2024 CBMS data collection was conducted in all barangays of the city from July 15 to October 15, 2024, followed by data processing which began in October 2024 and continues to this date. The official turnover of the validated data to the City Government of Vigan is scheduled for September 15, 2025.
