In celebration of this year’s National Women’s Month, the City Agriculture Office in partnership with the City Social Welfare and Development Office and the Office of SPM Janina Medina-Fariñas conducted Urban Gardening Seminar among the various Women’s Organizations of the city at Vigan Conservation Complex.
Lecture on the urban agriculture production strategies and actual demonstration of planting seeds were done to ensure the learnings of each participant.
“Urban Agriculture Development is a tool that aims to improve food availability, food access and also to support food security. The conduct of this activity is very timely especially that we are in the pandemic in which vegetables and fruits are pricy and sometimes we experienced shortage of supply,” City Agriculturist Lito Forneas said.
Afterwards, Urban Gardening Starter Kits were distributed to the participants through the office of SPM Janina Medina-Fariñas, Chairperson Committee on Social Services and Poverty Alleviation.
