To enhance and develop the city’s health care services, the City Government of Vigan together with the Department of Health and the Office of the Congressman DV Savellano conducted the blessing and groundbreaking ceremony that marks official start of the construction of the four-storey Vigan Polyclinic Building at Barangay IV, Vigan City.
Senator Cynthia Villar graced the event as the guest of honor. She was joined by City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina, Former Mayors Ferdinand Medina and Eva Marie Medina, Vice Mayor Lourdes Baquiran, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members, City Department Heads and the expanded City
Local Health Board.
The said project is pursuant to the All for Health towards Health For All program of the President from 2016 up to 2022 which goal is to give all the Filipinos, especially the poor, marginalized, and vulnerable are protected from high cost of health care; Filipinos attain the best possible health outcomes with no disparity; and Filipinos feel respected, valued, and empowered in all of their interaction with the health system.
Vigan City was chosen to be the pilot site of putting up the polyclinic in the entire Luzon through the support of the Ilocos Sur First District Representative DV Savellano.
“It is a must for us in the government to support this kind of projects for us to uplift the quality of health care in the country. Im glad that the Heritage City of Vigan is on the right track for implementing and continuing to level up its health services towards its constituents.” Senator Cynthia Villar said.
Meanwhile City Health Officer II Dr. Loida Ranches gratified the City Officials and all its partnered agencies who made the project possible. Fr. Nick Baquilar led the blessing of the said site.
