Vigan City Government Receives Procured AstraZeneca Vaccines

As the City Government of Vigan envisions herd immunity in the city, the Vigan City Inter-Agency Task Force led by Mayor Juan Carlo Medina and City Health Officer II Dr. Loida Ranches received  its procured AstraZeneca CoVID-19 vaccines from the AstraZeneca Pharmaceuticals last July 18, 2021 at Vigan Culture and Trade Center.

Mayor Juan Carlo Medina, together with the City Officials, members of the Vigan City IATF, and the City Vaccination Team welcomed the arrival of the 3,400 doses of the said vaccines.

Meanwhile, Msgr. Gary Formoso officiated the blessing of the vaccines before the City’s roll-out.

“Despite the high demand of Covid-19 jabs, the City Government was able to secure enough vaccines to the Bigueños.” CHO II Ranches said.

She also added that the arrival of the initial doses of the AstraZeneca vaccines will enable the City Government to fast track its vaccination roll out towards its goal of herd immunity by the end of the year.

Over sixty thousand citizens including workers in the city are expected to receive the said vaccine.

Mayor Medina gratified the city’s frontliners for their continuous efforts particularly on implementing vaccine roll-outs despite the threat of the virus.
