September 29, 2014 – In the spirit of unity and camaraderie to fulfill the vision of effective delivery of basic services among people, the City Council of Vigan unites with the nation in celebrating Legislator’s Week. Vigan City, one of the few local government units actively effecting awareness on the celebration of Legislators’ Week spearheaded the conduct of the City Government Flag Raising with Vice Mayor Lourdes Baquiran conducting the City employees in the singing of the National Anthem. Councilor Juan Carlo S. Medina led the Panunumpa sa Watawat and the Panunumpa ng Kawani sa Gobyerno while Councilor Kisses Agdamag and Councilor Benette Orio led the Prayer and the Vision-Mission of the City of Vigan respectively. This year, the 11 member City Council lined up various projects and activities including a simultaneous text voting in support to the quest of the City of Vigan to be included in the New 7 Wonder Cities of the World, a photo and art exhibit showcasing the Legislators in action, re-launching of the Vigan City Council website, an ice bucket challenge of all the City Council staff, a Barangay Forum cum Seminar-Workshop on Basic Legislations and finally, an Executive-Legislative Meeting. All these activities are aimed to promote the accessibility of the City Council and to create awareness of the need for the Bigueños to get involved in making the City of Vigan a habitable heritage city of choice. //Roxanne V.
