Vigan Central Plaza and the Vigan Transport Hub soon to rise

The City Government of Vigan represented by Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina entered into an agreement with XRC Mall Developer, Incorporated through their chairman Mr. Alexander M. Cruz for the establishment of the Vigan Central Plaza along Quezon Avenue and the Vigan Transport Hub at Jose Singson St. in Vigan.

The Site Blessing and the Ground Breaking Ceremony was held on December 12, 2015, coinciding with the city’s “Panagyaman a Padaya Ita Paskua, Vigan Thanksgiving Festival”. Msgr. Vicente Avila blessed the sites along Quezon Avenue where the old public market was located and Jose Singson St. in Vigan. The ceremony was attended by the city’s department heads, NGO’s and members of the Heritage City of Vigan Press Corps.

Mayor Eva Medina says that the establishment of three multi-level commercial and parking facilities will boost the city’s efforts to curb traffic congestion emanating from the increased tourism and business activities. She added that with these investments, the city is projected to have a steady source of income and an all the more steady increase in tourist arrivals. “Not only will we have prime infrastructures within our jurisdiction, we will also have a hub for employment as our developer intends to introduce the call center industry. This can only translate to more employment opportunities for our youth in which they will never have to leave their homes again to pursue their careers because we are bringing their careers to them.”, she added.
