On February 28, 2024, the City Public Safety and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, in partnership with the Bureau of Fire Protection—Vigan City, conducted Basics on Firefighting and Operations of Fire Extinguisher Training for Vigan City Government Employees at Vigan Conservation Complex.
Over fifty employees from the various offices of the city government and its attached agencies participated in the event, wherein different concepts related to the anatomy of fire and principles and demonstrations on hose throwing, rolling, the use of fire extinguishers, and the operation of fire trucks were discussed by the BFP personnel.
The said activity is in line with Republic Act 10121, or the Philippine Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Act of 2010, which mobilizes the LGUs to strengthen their capacity to deal with hazards.
