The City Government of Vigan distributed basic school materials to Bigueño children. This is a yearly undertaking of the local government headed by Mayor Eva Medina to help parents in providing the needed school supplies of their children.
Those who are in the elementary got bags, notebooks, ballpens, t-shirts and umbrellas. Those in the secondary level had binders, ball pens and t– shirts tucked in a plastic envelop. Pre – schoolers also received crayons, coloring books, bags and t-shirts.
Mayor Eva personally handed over the school supplies of the day care pupils of Barangay 1 on August 27, 2014. She expressed that the city will continue to give better services to Bigueño children because in Vigan, children are always number 1.
Development Academy of the Philippines, to document Child Friendly Practices of Vigan
The Local Council for the Protection of Children headed by Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina convened recently to discuss the child friendly practices of LGU Vigan, being awarded as the Most Child Friendly Component City in the country. This practices will be documented by the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP) a government owned and controlled corporation mandated to assist in the country’s development efforts in two ways: as change catalyst and as capacity-builder. DAP will visit Vigan and will create a case study report.
The city government’s Pagsapulan: Raniag ti Masakbayan will be high-lighted in the said case study report. Discussions will include the significance of the project, beneficiaries of the project and its implementation.
The Development Academy of the Philippines is in-charge of enhancing capacities of agencies of government in fulfilling their mandates of serving the citizenry;
to foster and support synergy among the development forces at work in nation-building; and
to catalyze and promote exchange of innovative ideas and expertise on development in the Philippines and Asia.
