Nigerian Ambassador to the Philippines Her Excellency Folakemi Ibidunni Akinleye and her
delegation together with the officials of AKLADEB paid a courtesy visit to the City Mayor Jose
“Bonito” Singson Jr. on January 27, 2023 at Casa Vicente.
Mayor Singson discussed with them his future plans in the City including the TRAMVIA
transportation, the marketing of Vigan Longganisa for export, livelihood and heritage conservation
program. He also served the visitors some of Vigan’s famous delights such as Vigan longganisa and
Turones de mani.
The Nigerian Ambassador showed her full support to the City Mayor in improving the livelihood of
the Biguenos by creating the TRAMVIA. Her excellency promised to provide natural gas to help in
the electricity consumption of the said project.
“I would like to say to the people of Vigan to keep your tradition, keep your stories and keep your
heritage because this is who you are and this is what you can show to the whole world.”
Ambassador Folakemi Ibidunni Akinleye said during her interview with Ciudad Vigan News.
The City Government of Vigan through Mayor Singson showed their gratitude and ensures the
continuous strong relationship between Nigeria and Vigan City.
