
Simultaneous with the blessing of the Vigan Convention Center was the launching of TVigan, the new information arm of the city government. Mayor Eva Medina introduced the cable network of the LGU as “Ang KaiVigan nating lahat” prior to the showing of the Station ID that signaled the birth of TVigan. The signing of the contract ensued between the Mayor and Engr. Ruben Cortez of Eagle Vision, the network provider. The take-off activity introduced to the public, the TV shows, the production staff and talents headed by Mrs. Sheila Marie R. Medina. The TVigan family as a ‘coming out’ gesture, presented production numbers of songs and dances by producers, crew and talents. On March 26, 2012, TVigan started airing its shows over Channel 9 of Vigan Satellite Cable TV and Eagle Vision. These are: K-Vigan- K is for “kabataan” and “kaibigan”. It focuses on the youth, their talents, skills and Sangguniang Kabataan activities. It will present discussions, opinions and issues of the youth as well as sports, music and gags. A special segment tackles activities of the UNP Mass Communications students; TK2 or TrabahongKalikasan at Kabuhayan – The weekly show that will feature various occupations, livelihood and the latest in agriculture. It will provide tips on small and medium scale entrepreneurship as well as environmental protection; Ciudad Vigan News Patrol, the regular news program brings to viewers the latest information, events and announcements observing responsible journalism. Ciudad Vigan News Patrol shall consist of : Pulis Report, Talakayan, Timek ti Bigueno, Traffic Update, Sukat ti Piso, Price Watch, Panawen, Celebrity Express and Sari Saring Kuwento;
Walay 101, the show about the Bigueños as well as tourists visiting the various sites of the city and the province. It is hosted by 4 different characters whom everyone can relate to. Kenette, nerd but vain, Keatch, foodie but sporty, R.E, meticulous but superstitious and Badik, the outrageous, the historian; Vigan Lifestyle, the program composed of 5 regular segments namely: “I am a Bigueño”- features success stories of business men, designers, writers etc. from Vigan; “My Legacy” – interviews with former officials from Vigan City;
“Food Trip” - features food, chefs, restaurants and modern innovations and traditional ways of cooking various cuisine; “Check Up!”Is about health, the prevention of diseases and modern medical technology; and “Balay” is of old, modern and unique interior and architectural designs of houses.
