The City Government of Vigan in partnership with the Balikatan sa Vigan Chapter and St. Paul Parish sponsored a Mass Wedding for unwed couples.
Fifty five couples said “I Do” last June 20, 2014 in a ceremony held at the St. Paul Cathedral. The couples were given the chance to legitimize their union as husband and wife, some of whom were already living together and have children.
Mayor Eva said that the city is conducting this mass wedding annually to give assist unwed couples to receive the Sacrament of Matrimony. She added that all expenses in the wedding ceremony and the reception party were shouldered by the city government. The City Government sponsored the reception after the mass wedding and gifted the couples with desk fan and starter set. The Balikatan on the other hand provided for coins, secondary veil, cord and fan cum bouquet.
Former Mayor Ferdi Medina, city officials and department heads acted as primary sponsors in the mass wedding.
