As the African Swine Fever cases in the locality increases, the City Government of Vigan held immediate conference with the Provincial Veterinary Office and the Bureau of Animal Industry last September 3, 2021 at ABC Hall wherein Vigan City ASF Committee led by City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina and City Veterinary Dr. Rayeth Robiniol spearheaded the event.
After identifying the affected areas, the committee made decided to contact trace and even prohibited the entry and exit of any pork meat product in the province to ensure the faster containment of the virus.
Meanwhile, the City’s ASF Committee particularly to the City Public Relations and Information Office and TVigan Channel collaborated with the BAI – Public Information Team to localized the campaign materials regarding on ASF to be distributed among the most affected sectors such as the farmers, retailers and the general public or the consumers. This will enable the public to understand on how to prevent the spread of ASF.
City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina also assured that the City’s affected farmers will able to received their indemnity fund.
He also expressed his eagerness to purchased ASF Testing Machine for the City to fasten its operation towards ASF.
Meanwhile, City Veterinary Robiniol gratified the City Government of Vigan for its continuous support towards the containment of the ASF in the City.
