The 125th Birth Anniversary of President Elpidio Quirino was held last November 16, 2016 . The late Philippine President’s descendants such as his grandchildren Cory Quirino, Maria Victoria Gonzalez, and Eddie Quirino was joined by local officials headed by Governor Ryan Singson and Vigan City Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina as they gathered in front of the provincial capitol where a life-size statue stands in honor of the postwar Republic’s second President.
The celebration focused on the legacy of Quirino as the man who led the reconstruction of postwar Philippines after the devastation of World War II.
A posthumous award from the Order of the Knights of Rizal was also given to the late President Elpidio Quirino as a sign of the highest honor of the organization, presented by their Supreme Commander Sir Jeremias Singson, KGCR to the Quirino family through Ms. Maria Victoria Gonzalez and Ms. Cory Quirino.
