Mayor Medina Opens the Newly Renovated Plaza Burgos Food Court

Coinciding with the Vigan City’s observance of the 150th Death Anniversary of GomBurZa last February 17, 2022, the City Government of Vigan headed by Mayor Juan Carlo Medina formally opened the newly renovated Plaza Burgos Food Court wherein the City’s Spanish trade-mark architecture was incorporated.

The newly constructed food court is part of the Plaza Burgos renovation project in which landscapes, lights, stage, comfort rooms, artificial grass, and fully furnished outdoor tiles were done.

City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina together Vice Mayor Lourdes Baquiran, Sangguniang Panlungsod Members through SPM Janina Medina-Fariñas SPM Kristen Benedict Figuerres, SPM Kisses Agdamag-Lim, PPSK Vice President Mary Ann Ataup, DepEd-Vigan City Division Superintendent Gemma Tacuycuy, NHCP Director III Carminda Arevalo together with Former Mayor Eva Marie Singson Medina graced the ribbon cutiing ceremony after the wreath laying at the monument of Fr. Jose Burgos at Plaza Burgos.

The blessing ceremony was officiated by Msgr. Gary Formoso of the Nueva Segovia and was witnessed by the different department heads and division chiefs of the City Government.

Over thirteen (13) food stalls of the famous Vigan empanada, Okoy and Sinanglao began to operate in the newly constructed food court.

“We’re very glad that after two years of pandemic we’re able to open this newly renovated Plaza Burgos because this will further attract tourists to visit the Heritage City of Vigan and will help our local businesses especially the empanada and okoy vendors in our food court,” City Tourism Officer Edgar Dela Cruz said.
