Vigan City Receives BFAR Gawad Pagkilala Award

As the City Government of Vigan considers Agriculture as one of its priorities, the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Region I recognizes the City Government of Vigan in its 57th Fish Conservation Week for its best practices under fishery sector.

                The Provincial Fishery Officer Martin Allayban handed the said recognition to City Administrator Atty. Joanne Janice Quodala-Formoso and City Agriculture Officer Lito Forneas at Vigan City Hall Lobby last September 18, 2020.

                This year’s theme for FCW: “Karagatan ay Pangalagaan upang Ani at Kita ay Makamtan magingsa Gitna ng Pandemyang Hamon sa Bayan,” reminds every Filipino the importance of protecting and conserving the country’s marine and aquatic resources even up to this time of pandemic.

                The week-long celebration started last September 14, 2020 and most of its activities were done virtually to secure the safety of every participant.

                Aside from the City Government, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur and other Local Government Units of the province such as Sta. Catalina, Caoayan, Sto. Domingo and Candon, City were also awarded.

                The Gawad Pagkilala Award is given to “stakeholders or partner institutions which have shown exemplary support, contributions, and/or accomplishments in fisheries conservation and management.
