As a Child Friendly City Wall of Famer, and a consistent passer of the Child Friendly Local Government Audit, the City Government of Vigan continuously improves its services and facilities for the Bigueño children. Last August 26, 2020 the Vigan Stimulation and Therapeutic Activity Center (STAC) opened its newly renovated facilities to the City Press Team showcasing the additional equipment for physical therapy sessions, toys, indoor playground, rubberized floor, colorful wall designs and artificial grasses were installed.
“We’re very thankful that Mayor Juan Carlo Medina is very supportive towards our goal in improving our services to the city’s children with special needs. He never lets our special students left behind.” STAC Chief Frances Pugrad said.
“Since we’re still in quarantine and our students are not allowed to attend their classes, we decided to implement the renovation of the STAC SPED rooms, Physical Therapy Room and Play Area for the children to enjoy after the quarantine,” Pugrad added.
Colorful shapes and cartoon characters were painted along the walls of every room while brand new therapeutic equipment were placed at the Physical Therapy Room and indoor swings and slides with thousands of balls were some of the newly attratcions in the playing area.
Despite the pandemic, Vigan STAC conducts regular home visits to their students to ensure that their development is continuous.
Pugrad highlighted that the Vigan STAC is now ready and is excited to welcome the city’s children with special needs to the newly renovated center.
