The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) conferred the City Government of Vigan headed by Mayor Juan Carlo Medina for passing the 2018 Seal of Good Local Governance: Pagkilala sa Katapatan at Kaayusang Pamahalaang Lokal last November 6 at One Rizal Park, Manila Hotel.
Vigan City Mayor Juan Carlo Medina, City Administrator Atty. Joanne Janice Quodala- Formoso, LGO Officer Janette Duarte, CEPP Officer Edred Piamonte and CENR Officer Teddy Boy Corpuz humbly acknowledged the award.
As DILG elevates higher criteria for this year’s qualifications of awardees, the City Government strives to conform in the “All-in” assessment criteria of DILG.
Interior Secretary Eduardo said that it was another factor for the LGU’s to further uplift the service and objectives of every department.
Unlike the 2017 SGLG “4+1” assessment criteria wherein LGU’s are only required to pass the four areas or at least one part to obtain the award, this year’s SGLG showed more challenging requisite of trouncing the minimum criteria in SGLG’s Seven governance areas. The seven areas are: Financial Administration; Disaster Preparedness; Social Protection; Peace and Order; Business Friendliness and Competitiveness; Environment Protection; and Tourism Culture and the Arts.
Through the competent and collaborative efforts of the city officials, department heads, attached partner agencies and city employees, LGU Vigan established positive outcomes throughout the seven core areas as it once again proved its quality and organized service for its constituents.
All over 81 Provinces, 145 cities and 1489 municipalities undergone SGLG assessment taking place last April and run for six months before the said awarding. Not like the past year from 448 LGU’s, only 263 LGU’s of 2018 met the upgraded standard of DILG.
