The City Government of Vigan through the stewardship of Mayor Eva Marie S. Medina formally received its honor as one of the New 7 Wonders Cities of the World in a ceremony held last May 7, 2015 in front of the Conversion of St. Paul Cathedral.

Mayor Eva Medina thanked all Filipinos here and abroad who supported, voted and campaigned for Vigan.” This is our wonder City, whom we are all proud of, it is then our responsibility to preserve it, nurture, keep it vibrant and to treasure it, not just for today but for the future generation to appreciate and emulate, she said.

Vice president Binay also lauded Vigan’s inauguration as one of the New 7 Wonders Cities, saying that this should serve as an inspiration on how preserving culture and heritage can be harmonized with urban development.

He also urged the people of Vigan to remain committed in preserving its culture and share the best practices to other local governments.
