The City Council of Vigan is in for a busy month ahead. For discussions and debates in the coming weeks are the Vigan City Tourism Code; the Establishment of the Persons with Disability Affairs Office and the Public Safety and Emergency Management Office, the approval of the prescribed new schedule of fair market values for lands and buildings, the City Annual Development Plan for CY 2011 and the City Annual Budget for CY 2011.
Proposed ordinances by Vice Mayor Ryan Singson declaring the celebration of the last week of October as tourism week in Vigan City; and by Councilor Benedicto Versoza prohibiting the use of tour guides not accredited by the City government and the ticketing system for tourists in the City of Vigan. When approved these will be incorporated in the Vigan City Tourism Code.
The Establishment of Persons with Disability Affairs Office and the Public Safety and Emergency Management Office are in conformity to Memorandum Circular No. 2010-103 and Republic Act No. 10121 respectively. The Persons with Disability Affairs Office will institutionalize mechanisms to ensure the implementation of programs and services for persons with disabilities in the city and the Public Safety and Emergency Management Office will be responsible for setting the direction, development, implementation and coordination of disaster risk management programs within our territorial jurisdiction. Both ordinances are sponsored by Councilors George Villanueva, Loreto Quibilan and Henry Formoso./roxane villanueva
