PNP conducts anti-Illegal drugs campaign

Vigan City Philippine National Police led by Police Superintendent Elpidio Nartatez conducted two (2) drugs demand reduction activities to support their advocacy against illegal drugs through an information dissemination campaign for secondary students of the University of Northern Philippines and Ilocos Sur National High School on July 11 and July 27, 2010, respectively.
Subjects discussed at the symposia were about illegal drugs, their ill effects, the punishable acts and penalties under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, and the role of the community including school authorities in the implementation of said law.
Also for the month of July, the police conducted two (2) illegal drugs supply reduction operations with search warrants that resulted in the confiscation of 15.8 grams marijuana, assorted drug paraphernalia, guns and ammunitions. Two (2) persons were arrested and filed with criminal complaints under inquest proceedings at the Office of the City Prosecutor.
