In view of the continuous improvements and assurance of quality health service among the Biguenos, the City Health Office, in partnership with the Department of Health-IIlocos Sur, held the two-day training and orientation on the Reference Manual on seven priority areas as a barangay health education and promotion officer on May 20–21 for the first batch and May 22–23, 2024, for the second batch at Vigan Convention Center, wherein over three hundred sixty-nine barangay health workers from the various barangays of the city took part in the event.
Ms. May Bernardine Belardo and Mr. David Zaragoza of the Development Management Office, DOH-Ilocos Sur, together with the City Health Office led by CHO II Dr. Loida Ranchez, graced the said training.
Furthermore, on May 24, 2024, DOH-Ilocos Sur Health Team Leader Engr. John Foz, together with CHO II Loida Ranches, City Nutrition Officer Jeno Josef Figuracion, Committee on Health Chairperson SPM Janina Carine Medina-Farinas, SPM Karen Baquiran, and SPM Ada Joana Fe Artajos, led the culminating activity, wherein a certificate of completion was given to each of the participants and the election of a new set of officers for the BHW Federation was held.
The said training aimed to further equip the barangay health workers of the city, as they play a vital role in bridging the gap between the communities and the formal health care system.
