99-Year Old Senior Citizen Receives COVID Vaccine

In line with City Government of Vigan’s goal to achieve hundred percent inoculation of its priority groups especially the Senior Citizens (A2 Category), last May 11, 2021, Mrs. Catalina Averia, a 99-year old senior citizen from Barangay V, Vigan City received her first dose of Sinovac vaccine at Vigan City Health Office.

City Health Officer II Dr. Loida Ranches confirmed that Averia holds the City’s record as the oldest person to have received the Covid-19 Vaccine.

“I’m encouraging my fellow senior citizens to register and be vaccinated for our safety against the Covid-19 virus. If all of us will be vaccinated, the sooner we can end this pandemic,” Averia said.

After fifteen minutes, Averia didn’t show any side effect but for further assurance, the CHO’s monitoring team gave her medicines before she left the vaccination site and instructed to call the Bakuna Side Effect Hotlines in case of adverse reactions.

Meanwhile, the City Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign Management Team chaired by the City Public Relations and Information Office further intensify its IEC’s to convince the Biguenos to participate in its vaccination program.

The inoculated Sinovac Vaccines for the City’s Senior Citizens (A2) are from the National Government’s allocation to the Province of Ilocos Sur.
